“Animal Magnetism” was a 2021 exhibition (part of a series running into 2023) by Dogmatic at the Center for New Music in San Francisco’s Window Gallery.

It featured experimental magnetic tape instruments, historical recording machines, and student work from Dogbotic's "Cassette Hacking" workshop, focusing on manipulating tape playback hardware. 

• Concept: The show focused on the "tactile" and "conceptually simple" nature of magnetic tape, arguing it never fell out of fashion.

• Focus on Hardware: Instead of just manipulating tape, the exhibition highlighted the manipulation of the machines used to read the tape, creating new interpretations of "iron-rich data".

• Themed Content: The exhibition acted as an homage to historical player manipulation and the political freedom of the cassette tape.

• Context: It was a sophomore exhibition for Dogbotic following their earlier experimental workshops.
